Part of my my 'Letter a day' project' for my type blog Twenty Six Types. The characters start of as drawings created with the iPhone app Brushes, which are then imported into a background layer in Font Lab Studio. Each glyph can be traced and tidied up and exported as a font file.
I drew this letter 'R' from this photograph, which was taken on a visit to the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum in Two River, WI.
Beautiful photograph, the blue is so lovely!.
I haven't seen this since 2002, it's been at my mum's house hidden away in a cupboard. Today though I dug it out and was amazed it's still intact after all these years.
Tumblr find of the day. Green Type is an Indie type foundry based in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Still one of my favorite ad campaigns 'Saab vs.', you can find an almost complete set here.
Container gardening in a courtyard is pure pleasure, I have discovered that if it holds water you can grow something in it, even old tires work wonders. Luckily I live on a farm with no shortage of containers to plant things in and a steady supply of horse manure to help keep the garden rich in nutrients. Having practiced my new found love of container gardening for the past two years, next year will hopefully see a courtyard paradise. But with cold weather predicted for next week, this morning was a good time to cover the raised beds with horse manure, this will break down during the cold winter months and give a rich loamy soil to work with in the Spring.
